It was a great pleasure to be invited by one of my clients to his wedding today. I have not attended weddings very often, because most of my friends have already married, some of them are divorced.
Chinese say 入乡随俗(Rùxiāngsuísú), which means follow the local custom whatever you go. My friends have a Chinese background, they had a wedding at the All Saints Anglican Church, a western style wedding, followed by a reception at the East Ocean Restaurant (a Chinese restaurant). The wedding was a great combination of eastern and western traditions.
A wedding is one of the happy events in Chinese culture, other happy events include: having babies, job promotion, buying properties, birthday milestones (e.g turning 60). I hope the newly weds get all of these.
